Competitions
The 2008/09 season will see a re-vamp of the cup competitions. One major change is the move away from open handicapping, where players know the handicap before the match is played, to closed handicapping, where the handicap is calculated according to a formula after the match, taking into account which players have played.
The details of the three competitions are listed below. Results information on each competition can be viewed by clicking the appropriate link.
Southwell Trophy
2-a-side teams from Divisions A, B and C may enter the Southwell Trophy. Four singles will be played in the match, with all four games being played to completion. Each game will consist of four legs to eleven, with no deuce. All four legs will always be completed.
At the end of the match, the total number of points scored by each team over the course of the match are added up and the results submitted to the Competitions Secretary. A handicap will be calculated based on which players have played in the match and then applied to the scores before announcing the winner.
Coronation Cup
3-a-side teams from Divisions 3 and 4 may enter the Coronation Cup. Nine singles will be played in the match, with all nine games being played to completion. Each game will consist of four legs to eleven, with no deuce. All four legs will always be completed.
